21 September, 2023 - Ruby wins Youth Category in the ASA Awards for New Dream

Competing against hundreds of entries, Ruby wins the top spot in the Youth Category of the Australian Songwriters Association Awards and has the honour of being interviewed by Brian Ward and performing solo at the Awards night - see here.

The Australian Songwriters Association is a national, non-profit, member organisation dedicated to the support of songwriters and their art, through providing avenues for encouragement and education of developing Australian songwriters, and recognition and promotion of our accomplished members.

Not only taking to the stage, but absolutely bossing it at our Fifteen Years of Unearthed High celebrations, this talented musician from the Central Coast oozes confidence and radiates professionalism.

Winning the triple j Unearthed competition (and deservedly so) this seventeen-year-old act has proved that she’s an innovator. Through her passion, hard work, technical ability and dedication to her craft, if there’s anyone who’s going to create an entirely new chord… our bets are on Ruby Archer!   More info here.

23 July, 2023 - Ruby is featured in ABC Compass  documentary, Music Central

MUSIC CENTRAL explores the power of music to create connection and healing. Filmed for over a year on the NSW Central Coast, this half hour documentary follows the stories of local elder Uncle Kevin 'Gavi' Duncan, the staff and students at Woy Woy Public School, young singer-songwriter Ruby Archer and the Artistic Director of the Central Coast Conservatorium of Music, Patrick Brennan. At a time when humanity is increasingly disconnected from self, from each other and from the land on which we live, MUSIC CENTRAL is a timely roadmap for healing. Written piece by Ruby here.. 2 June, 2023 - Ruby wins 15 years of triple J Unearthed High Comp and plays live at Vivid!

"...Ruby Archer has won us over through the power of her live performance. ....there’s something so encapsulating about the way that she carries audience members through the expanse of her emotions and experiences. 17 November, 2022 - Ruby wins 3rd place in the ACMF National Songwriting Competition, Year 11-12 Category.

The annual Australian Children's Music Foundation National Songwriting Competition is a nationwide initiative designed to encourage creativity and self-expression through songwriting, and is now in its 20th year. Winners receive prize-money which can be allocated towards musical equipment or tuition. Ruby's prize is a remarkable achievement as the ACMF received nearly 1500 entries for 2022 which is a record amount! Click here for more info.

31 July, 2022 - Ruby and the Groovy Doobies win YouthRock 2022!

 

YouthRock is an annual competition for bands who write original music. Semi-finalists are chosen from video submission and the top two bands from each semi - as judged by a panel of music and recording industry representatives - go through to the grand final.  Ruby and the Groovy received a Special Finalist Award as well as the top prize! It was a fantastic event where all the young artists supported each other. Thank you YouthRock for giving young musicians such an awesome opportunity!

23 July, 2022 - Ruby plays Veronica in ABC ME series, Soundtrack to Our Teenage Zombie Apocalypse 

 

What do you do when you get trapped in the ABC building during a zombie apocalypse? Write a song about it, of course. Four music obsessed teens are on a mission to win triple j Unearthed High – so the end of the world will have to wait. Soundtrack To Our Teenage Zombie Apocalypse is a 10×30 min ABC ME series offering action-packed, cranked-to-11, zombie-fueled fun!

4 June 2022 - Prize Winner in the Speak Up, National Singer/Song Writer Competition

 

Ruby received third place, an encouragement award, made friends and had a fantastic time at this inaugural event created by Rachael Berry. Renowned Music industry icons Kirk Pengilly of INXS, Tania Doko of Bachelor Girl Paul Christie of Mondo Rock and Bec Carauna of The Voice were judges at the final at Big Music, Crows Nest. The event encouraged teenagers to share their original music and shine a light on the importance of mental health and wellness for all our young Australians.
